Most often bogeys come from lifting your head during your swing. You are much more likely either to hook or slice the ball, and this will usually result in your shooting over par for that hole.

They are made up of dead cells and dust. I have no idea why they get to be green and yellow though. I think miners used to get black snot because of all the dust and coal that got stuck up there.
