I'm from NJ, and Wildwood is still the nicest....but that's a relative term. No NJ boardwalk is really any good.

"Carlsbad is quickly transforming into one of North San Diego Counties most progressive community. A delightful place to visit or raise a family. Here you can find one the best board walks and beach villages in the county as well as an outlet mall, resorts/spa's, restaurants tulip fields, championship golf and tennis, outstanding schools. The people are friendly and unpretentious. Single family detached homes are still affordable starting in the mid $500,000's"
Gulf Terrace, FL "one of the best board walks"

Seaside Oregon or that other nondescript place. I think it is called Fisherman's Wharf. But, no one goes there anymore, it is too crowded. And there are no decent seafood restaurants there. Venice beach is no slouch either.
