Depends on what you like. If you read non-fiction try "Ain't Nobody's business if You Do-" subtitled "The absurdity of consensual crimes in a free society", by Peter McWilliams.
For well written lightweight fiction try November in Hiding's suggestion of a few Gregory Maguire novels. Or Martha Grimes, and her Richard Jury Mysteries.
For a truly underappreciated classic read "Letters from the Earth" by Mark Twain. Where Satan get temporarily banished from heaven and is sent here as punishiment. It's Twain at his cynical best.

Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. The book is much better than the movie version, which Natalie Portman was in. Nothing against Natalie Portman though.
