If it is the opening speech give a summary of what the case is about:

Ladies and Gentleman of the jury today stands before you an innocent man( or woman ),_name here__________, accused of ___________. During the course of these proceedings we will demonstrate that _______________ could not possibly have done ____________________. Why? Because on the day of the incident ___________________ was not at the crime site. Further, ________________ did not own a weapon. Depends on the facts that you have been given. You want to try and weave a story that a jury can follow and understand. A story that involves facts from the case that are in your favor. Try to figure the strong points of the opposing side, and develop arguments that cast doubt on them. Be respectful, sincere, and don't be condescending, or a snob. Just tell a good story, in plain english using the facts to support you, and to cast doubt on the other side. Good luck, and don't be scared...they can't kill you.
