Are the people of the United States obligated to help anyone from Mexico, Canada, or any country who does not belong here?

If the opportunitites in another country are not equal to ours, who made us responsible? To take the financial hit? How about what it has done to our educational system(dumbing down EVERYTHING)

I don't feel obligated to have people come to a party that are not invited. Do I owe them a free beer because they can't buy their own. Of course not!

So, as an immigrant from Canada, I say to anyone who comes here to be a liability and not an asset to America, take a hike! We don't owe you a LIFE!

I do believe that we are obligated to help people in 3rd world countries. (Mexico and Canada are not 3rd world countries.) We should help people who have nothing, or far less than us, but we don't have to give them everything. We certainly don't owe them a life, but we can help make their lives better. In poor countries in Africa, people have HIV/AIDS, are forced to live days without food or water, and they sleep on then ground outside. Those are the people we have to help. People from Canada and Mexico are not poor, and we don't owe them anything! It's pretty pathetic how they come here and expect it all. It's no easier for them, and they expect it all from us. The ones we should be helping are the people in Africa on the streets. We ARE obligated to help them.

Canada can hardly be called a 3rd world country. The USA's educational system (apart from the universities) sucks anyway, immigrants or no immigrants.

Let's see how the USA would be doing if it closes it's borders. No more braindrain from the rest of the world and a poor educational system....mmm...and nobody anymore to do the jobs americans refuse to do or ask three times the price to do it....mmm...anyone got an idea?

I do not feel obligated to help others from different countries. We have some problems in our own country that need to be fixed. We have homelessness, mental health issues, drugs and gangs, to just name a few. My money and my time is better spent at home.
