Abortion is a fact of life unfortunately. We can either allow legal abortions that are done by licensed medical professionals or we can go back to the old way of going into the bathroom and using a coat hanger or the old hag on the wrong side of the tracks and women will die. I believe that if we stop focusing on the abortion and concentrate on prevention the volume will decrease. What about teaching kids that sex is really something that they are not prepared for and how to handle the pressure of being talked into having sex.. What about incest? Would you want your Mom, sister, daughter, or yourselves to be raped by someone, maybe even a relative and be FORCED to give birth to a child that they will know is still out there and can contact them or worse to know how they were conceived? What if the rapist were of another race? From some of the comments here, I cannot imagine that some of you would WILLINGLY get pregnant by someone of another race.

No woman wakes up and says " Well, I think I will just go on down to the local clinic and get an abortion" like it's a spring cleaning or something. It is a very difficult decision and I think that the person that can best make that choice is the person that is in that situation and certainly not the government. All you right wingers are supposedly all about less government until it comes to abortion and gay marriage then its re-write the Consitution time.

All of you guys out there, be prepared to pay child support and act like a Daddy or keep your pants zipped. To bring the already bulging court system into the equation to determine who is "entitled" to have an abortion is the stupidest thing yet.

Abortion should not be allowed. It is murder. It was no fault of the child that it was concieved no matter if it was in a rape issue or just cause no protection was used, or whether it was pure selfishness. The child is a person and should be given the right to live a life of full potential that they were designed for. If the issue is that a mother is not wanting the child, there are many couples in this world who would be greatful for the opportunity to have a child. Don't make a child suffer for the sins of the mother or father.

Yes, because the only reason that everyone says it is wrong is because "God's plan". The United States, by the way, is a secular nation & it's laws should be reflected as such. And you can not tell me that something without a heart is a person, and "killing" it is murder.

Then I guess taking my trash out I'm murdering like 10 billion things because even though it none of that has a heart or brain neither does a newborn baby until 15 weeks.

And why aren't any of you people against abortion being like "Don't eat animals." They are alive too. But then of course you'll be like "If God didn't intend for us to eat animals he wouldn't have given us the power over animals".... well if "God", whoever that may be, didn't intend for us to terminate pregnancy then he wouldn't have given us the ability to do so.

I feel the only time abortion should be allowed is when there is a danger to the life of the mother or the child or in the case of rape. Abortion is not a means of birth control for those who want to have sex without using the pill, a condom or other birth control method. From the moment of conception, there is a living breathing human being and taking that life, in God's eyes, is called MURDER!

Abortion is a medical procedure that has been in use throughout human civilization for thousands of years now. It's not a question of whether or not abortion should be allowed because it will still happen irregardless if it is allowed or not.

Whether you want to believe it or not, abortion is a medical procedure that has proven benefits when prescribed by a Physician after consultation with the Patient. Many people consider the procedure to be some sort of barbarism but it is not.

The choice comes down to whether or not the procedure will continue to be performed in the United States in regulated environments with emphasis on Patient safety or if this medical procedure will be now performed by non-Physicians with no concern of Patient safety. I vote for keeping it legal and safe for those Women who need this medical procedure.

I think that there may be times when it should be allowed. If you were 13 years old, and raped. Would you want to carry that child around for 9 months? I would not want that for my 13 year old. I think to use abortion as a method of birth control is very wrong. Other than rape, there is no excuse, at least in this country for having an unwanted pregancy. And for you men out there, you don,t have a clue what it is like to have a child. So if you are against abortion, keep your private in your pants.

First and for most I think the politics of the debate need to be understood as to why this is such and issue in our social political debates. A great reference for this is "Abortion and the Politics of Motherhood" by Kristin Luker.

I believe that women and men have the right to decide what happens to their bodies. The self is not a place for government intervention. Because abortion procedures have been standardized and legalized I believe it is the choice and right of someone to have an abortion.

Abortion is allowed by law and every state that is currently trying to make it illegal is facing serious political and legal challenges (South Dakota).

This is a matter of choice and decision between a woman and her medical professional, not the government.

Unborn babies suffer pain while they are being killed by abortion.

Since medical researchers now widely agree that unborn babies at 20 to 24 weeks gestation experience pain during prenatal surgery, they most certainly feel pain during abortion. The obvious and horrifying conclusion is that millions of aborted unborn children have silently suffered greatly in their final minutes of life. The most common methods used to abort unborn babies at 20 weeks gestation or more involve sharp-edged instruments to cut, tear and twist the baby's body into pieces, which are extracted from the womb. In a partial-birth abortion, the unborn baby is delivered feet first, except for the head, which is punctured at the base of the skull with a sharp object. The brains are then suctioned out, killing the child

In my opinion if you get pregnant and don't want it you should at least give it a chance at life by putting it up for adoption rather then let it be ripped apart and suffer a painful death from abortion

Depends on the circumstances I guess. If someone was raped, underage, and could die from giving birth I would allow them to have an abortion. It's just unethical if someone had a chance of dieing to give birth to a child that isn't even theirs. They didn't even have a say in the matter.

yes i do. why: well because it should lets not let religion take part in this some women become pregnant and do not wish to be or physically their body can not Carry a child or are raped . well by many means. you see , then the whole adoption thing that's great but not always what about all the tragic stories of abuse and torment . what about or economic level? money wise how are we supposed to support unwanted children who are abanded there is help i guess but if a woman feel she is unfit or unworthy of her creation by all means she has the right to not let it suffer an if abortion is the answer good luck to you.
