If you read "The World Is Flat" by Thomas Friedman you will become incredibly knowledeable on the topic. I just listened to the book on Audio CD's and I was so inspired I am going to travel to India to see outsourcing first hand.

About as simple answer as I can give you is to say that most people will say it is bad. But essentially any job that can be digitized will be sent to India over the next 10 years. Is that bad for the US? Not necessarily. It does mean, however, that those people who performed jobs that can be digitized (for example an insurance claim filer) will need to adjust their skillset to take on other types of jobs to be employable in the US.

The book I suggest will give you a whole section about why it is good and how we need to adjust to what is happening with regard to outsourcing to India.

Here is an eBay link to show you the audio CD I am talking about:

It's a double-edged sword. It's bad for the job market because the jobs are leaving the US, and often these are entry-level customer service jobs or factory/manufacturing jobs. It's getting very hard to earn a decent living if you do not have a good, solid skill (plumber, electrician, etc) or a good (and sometimes expensive) education.

It's also good for Americans, though, because many of the products and services we buy are cheaper. Computers, for example, are very, very cheap and they're good quality. The computer manufacturers could never offer such good prices on computers if their 1-800 number for technical support was answered by an American worker. Clothing, too; if your jeans were made in America, they'd be a LOT more expensive.

We as consumers must decide if we want to keep the jobs here even if it means paying more for them.

by americans for american companies and outsourcing
to another country,,,, its only good for the companies that are purchasing the service cheaper than paying americans.
