well, i had some black moors. they were doing it and then they died. i did a 40% water change and tested the water. the water tested fine. then my large regular goldfish started acting weired, so i put him in a tank by himself and added salt. he seems to be acting a little better, but is still going over to the air bubbles. i just don't want to loose another one.

It sounds like you don't have enough oxygen in your tank. You better find a way to add more aeration to the water. Bubble wands do a decent job, but the best way is to have a filter that keeps the water moving.

Clean your tank or replace your tank cause there are certain viruses and bacteria problems in some tanks that are not detected when doing basic tests on the water. Also check to see if your fish is a salt water or a fresh water fish. Some goldfish are freshwater fish and some specialty breads of goldfish are salt water fish. Goldfish should only be put in tanks with certain types of fish or one or both breads of fish could die off. You can check the needs and types of fish that you can mix together at some pet stores, your vet, or you can look it up at your local library you can find the answers that you need.

As I've already typed up several times today, goldfish need much larger tanks than people usually give them..roughly 50 gallons per fish. This gives them proper space, but the water volume also helps dilute wastes and gives them more oxygen.

Goldfish are very large, very dirty fish who can live multiple decades if properly cared for. They need a LOT of space.

For fish and birds - vets really can't help. And they don't want to. Been there, done that many times. I've been told "don't bother."
The salt water should help, but it sounds like you need to do a filter/oxygen thing. Why do you keep getting goldfish if you have so much bad luck? Try guppies. They're hardier, and they have live births. They're also prettier.

It does sound like not enough oxygen, especially if the water has tested fine and you don't see any signs of disease.

Depending on the size of your tank, you might want to try a powerhead. They provide great oxygenation to the water, and are adjustable.
