My boyfriend always flirts and looks at other girls, but we are older (mid 30s-ish). We know that our base relationship is rock solid and we are both comfortable that flirting is just fun and that we would never act on it.

It depends on your relationship with him. It's hard to tell with younger guys though. They sometimes are real pains-in-the-rears.
