I was told by a doctor that not getting to sleep was anxiety and waking up in the night was depression. You will know if this is an issue within your life or a sleep disorder. I think that counselling or something of that nature could help.
I would also look at sleep hygene such as going to bed and waking up at the same time. Just use your bedroom for sleep no tv or computer. Keep a sleep journal there might be a pattern to your sleep and an activity(also look at what your eating, could there be something stimulating you there ie food intolerance, cola or drinks that has caffine, some times medication has caffine). Try and eat earlier you are doing something energy intensive when your body is winding down. Make sure your room is dark. Have you tried those hynotherapy cds. I have found them very helpful.
I think if this is a long term issue for you then sometimes a doctor maybe be a port of call but do not let them put you on tablets if that is not what you want

Chammimoile tea is sometimes purchased for only the good taste of the tea leaves. It may be caffinated. If not, try taking a hot bath (not shower) before bed. Drink alot throughout the day. Try to stay away from really sugary things. You also may have stress, anxiety, or worst case (not likely) RLS (restless legs syndrome). OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) can keep you awake at night if you have too much on your mind, or you just may be someone who needs iron. You may be anemic. An iron supplement is all natural. You can get it at whole foods.

If you are having trouble sleeping, make sure to wake up early (like 10 am) and dont take naps in the day, if you are having trouble sleeping read a boring book.
However you might want to consult a professional about it as he can give you pills (temporarely) until you get a sleep habit going.
