I would love to make new friends of both genders. I am a male. I usually stumble at the initial stage i.e. initiating small conversations. Could you please give me some hints and helpful topics on making small talk??

Ask about hobbies, how they like to spend their leisure time. Where did they go to college, what was their major.
If they like their job, and what about it do they like or dislike.
Wheat is their favorite place (in the city where both of you live?)
If they could have any job, what would it be. Hopefully the other person will be chatty and provide you with more opportunities to try your "smal talk."

talk about the weather. Talk about the stuff you liek and funny stories you may have. Talk about contoversial stuff like sports news or music interest and hopefully they respond to your small talk.
