John Lennon was a wonderful man. He knew what he was talking about! Why can't we follow him and live in peace? Please try to do what he says and imagine sharing the world, Imagine no possesions, Imagine a brotherhood of man, Imagine no greed or hunger....just imagine. You may call me whatever you like but I'm like John Lennon...a dreamer.... I believe we humans can make this world a better place because we are the ones who made it what it is today, full of hatred! Why cant we turn that around and live together in peace? I'm aware I will get negative responses but please take time and think what the world could be without hatred....No war, no racism, just peace and love forever.....?

I'm using John Lennon as an example someone that others can relate to...I just want to get my point across...where's the peace?
P.S.-I don't care what you call me. If I'm a hippie, I'm a hippie!

I think it would be great if that happened -- I just don't think it will.
Humans are far too greedy, possessive, and violent by nature to have such a society, at least humans as we are now. Perhaps if we evolve further from our primitive, animal origins we might have a chance for that kind of world...but it'll take a while. That doesn't mean, of course, that you should stop wishing for it or stop working towards it -- keep the good attitude! :)

The world isn't that simple. Just look at you for instance.
You picked a name that represents a vampire fighter from a novel and you're a Huge Harry Potter fan. You want to stalk Greenday, but you can't stalk anybody from you're computer in your bedroom. You're favorite song is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and you call yourself a punk, which doesn't quite go well together. But that's cool. That's you.

Its diversity like yourself that makes this a great world. However, we aren't all lucky to live in the United States of America. Some people believe in different things and actually don't believe others should be able to express themselves in any way that is different. Some places people are killed for thinking differently.

Socialism and communism have been tried in other countries and they do not work in the long run. Is that what John Lennon had in mind when he wrote Imagine? No possessions, no greed or hunger? Throughout history evil people have exploited the ideals of socialistic and communistic societies to satisfy their own greed. That happens when you give one entity too much power.

"Imagine" is a dream, a nice dream, but not yet, if ever, an attainable one.

We do all right here in the United States, though. Sure we have possessions, and still have hunger, and sure there will always be greed. But at least we have a say in our political decisions. We have a decent amount of opportunity for those who want to strive for better things. We continue to make things better for our children. We do all right for a country that is only 230 years old.

Sometimes, you have to know how bad things have been or could be to appreciate just how good things are.

Great question. Just imagine...

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I think a lot of us are similar dreamers. There are very few people who, if you asked them, would tell you they don't want an end to war and suffering. However, there's a point where dreams end and reality sets in. We as people will always have the capability in us to do wrong. We get angry, we fight, we say hurtful things, we design bombs. As much as I love John and the idea behind his song, I realize that there's just no way its going to happen in my lifetime. Perhaps one day some large event will happen to change people's minds, or we'll slowly grow as a world that will no longer have the tendency for violence.. but until then, all you can do is try to live as peaceful as possible.

I absolutely love all of John Lennon's songs, lyrics, music, sentiments, mentality, beliefs, et al!

I'm 100% in agreement with you about his strong beliefs in humanity and how people really need to stop and care about one another, as well as the true prospect and realization of having peace in the world...and on and on...(too much to mention here)

uhhh....what you are describing is the antithesis of the nature of man

let me give you a little example, what if, say the OPEC nations get together and decide that their people in venezeuela, the middle east and the other areas of the world are tired of living in this 3rd world status and want a better life

in order to do that, they decide to stop producing oil altogether

this makes the price of oil sky rocket to 200$ per barrel which then makes the price of gasoline 8.38$ per gallon

this now changes your little suburban life doesnt it? mom can no longer afford to drive you around to soccer practice, the price of food rises dramatically because the trucks we depend on to deliver the food cost more to operate, suddenly, you can't spend 300$ at hot topic any more because all that money goes into daddy's gas tank

now, do you want to go to war with the opec nations?

what if the price of gas gets to be 18$ a gallon, are you still going to sit around and listen to mr. lennon? no, i doubt it, you'll be calling for war just like everyone else

why?

because at your heart, you are selfish just like everyone else in this world

i assume you are young...maybe 16, maybe 18, maybe younger

mr. lennon is interesting in the sense that he provides an artistic expression of an ideal, but as practical advice it is meaningless

lennon only says what jesus said, and jesus only repeated what he got from the eastern philosophers

these ideas were nothing new, its just that lennon popularized them for you

5000 years of human history have shown that people can't live in peace, machines have all but taken over making all our food and still we cant get along

how naive it is for you to think otherwise

he was a dreamer

fiirst off we would have to kill all the politicians burn the banks down cap the oil wells park the cars slow down and notice our fellow man .i havent heard of to many mall rage incidents you know someone bumping you and you giving them the bird and chasing them around like a mad person .lol It is fine to own a gun you just can not strap one to your hip anymore and walk around .
what is it with people you only get to live the life you where born too and into.very few people make it past the lines drawn by social and political boundries. for every bill gates there is 100,000,000 .00 people who do with out a meal on more then one occasion .

Its not that people can't listen to what John Lennon had to say, its that the people in power don't listen. All we are saying, is give peace a chance.
