I want to get a good guitar, but affordable, not something higher than 600.00

I love the Gibson Les Paul model but I couldn't afford the $2,000 plus price tag. Instead I purchased an Epiphone Les Paul model. Similar in quality, sound and style, but at a fraction of the cost of the Gibson model. The Epiphone model is made by Gibson. Go to your local guitar shop sit down and play both models. You wont be able to tell the difference. I couldn't and I've been playing for almost 25 years. The Epiphone Les Paul model should run you between $500-$600.

Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul are the two top models. Maybe you can get a used one. Fender and Gibson are the top two brand names. Actually there are good low priced Stratocaster copies around, maybe at pawn shops. You may want to consider this option.

Gibsons hold their value very well, if you can find a used one at that price.
Used Fenders will also hold their value pretty steady.
