I am black and the white ppl I know never answer this question. I'm not joking or being rude. But I don't understand why white people want to change their skin color. Especially since some white people (in my town) don't like darker colored races. I'm happy being caramel the way God made me. So, why do people get tans?

I'm white and I think it's just a grass always being greener on the other side kind of thing. Not everyone but a lot of us just like our skin to be a little' darker not like the people who go to the tanning bed every day and look like leather, but you know just a little extra color. And there is a saying that says " dark fat looks better than white fat" and I have to agree. For me personally it gives the appearance of better muscle tone, look at body builders that's why their always bronzed, it's the same idea. Getting back to the grass always being greener on the other side my husband is Latino and his mom and sisters are always trying to stay out of the sun because they don't want to get darker. But as far as "changing our skin color" goes God made all of us so that our skin changes color naturally. Darker skin doesn't burn as easily as lighter skin tones so it's kind of a protection mechanism. I hope this answered your question. P.S. I would love to have caramel colored skin. I've gotta think of something better than white! Maybe toast? LOL

When black people are out in the sun long enough. they don't get tanned they get darker, but when white people are in the sun 2 long they either burn and turn red or, they get a little darker, which they call it tanning..... people who wants to get darker on purpose, like those people who call themselves going to tanning salons, or laying out, they like there skin better darker, I don't blame them because being pale is not attractive at all.

Because it's enjoyable to tan. I tan and still look and act very much like a white person!

because some white people need one when there not in the sun...some get really white and want to add a lil color theres nothing wrong with that...its not just the caucasians getting taned every one gets darker no matter wat color you are..if your out in the sun long enough...im black too just light for my color and i get darker if im out there long enough

I am white and I don't try to tan. I am happy with my pale healthy skin.
