when is a kink too bad in a water line hose?

I am replacing my dishwasher and I noticed the hose is bent but I straightened it out on the outside, will it still restrict the water flow?

As long as you straightened it out, and it stays fairly straight, you should not have any problems. Hoses are often kinked when packaged for shipment. Keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks just to be sure.
