It depends on the 7 yr old, the 9 yr old, who else is walking at that same time, and what kind of neighborhood the four blocks are in. Listen to your gut. God gave parents that little vioce inside our heads to guide us. If you think it is OK, try it out for a while. For the first few days walk with them see what the trip is like. If at any time you, your child or your spouse becomes uncomfortable with it, listen to your gut and stop it.

I doubt it, I have a 6 and a 3 year old and I can't imagine letting my 6 year old walk with someone older by only a few years. 4 blocks is pretty far for little ones.

no. i have a 7 and 9 yr old. and not a chance..Mine lives 2 blocks from school and i still don't feel comfortable. Think about how you would feel if they didn't come home when you could have just picked them up. Not worth it.
