I heard this morning that the pre tour ticket sales were so low that they had to cancel several of the shows, especially in the south. I do seem to remember hearing them say that they would rather have a smaller group of devoted fans than alot of half way listeners. Do you think this is waht they meant?

They absolutely got what they asked for! How can you put down your core fan base and not expect repercussions? It's just another example of entertainers who get a swollen head and think that their opinions are golden and that people will forgive anything they do or say. They have committed political suicide...they just don't they are dead yet.

I think what they said is the essence of what free speech means. Their music wasn't political at the time of the infamous comment... but who knows now.
The south, where I live, is full of people who support the war, because they served, or someone they know is serving in the military. Country music is patriotic, and when they insulted the President, they "insulted" the South... which is also not really into free speech when it contradicts what they believe in.
I think their music is good for country-pop, and they picked a very good time to release another album. Bush is at an all time low in popularity.
I don't know if this is what they meant by their comment about devoted fans, but those fans will support them. They didn't do anything wrong at all.

Sure, I'm sure they'll try to spin it so it seems they meant too, but come on why would somebody get into the music business, do well and then because one member has a mouth the size of Texas.....screws up and costs themselves money. Lets see we'd rather have a small group of fans and make alot less money than keep our mouths shut............... riiiiiight. If so why dont they go back to singing on corners or clubs even.......... then they wouldnt be nationaly known and nobody would really give a crap........

and it wasnt just the president comment they also bad mouthed country music as well......... double zinger

Well i think they did but they didn't want it to happen in that way. Its not good for a group or a solo artist to have so many low ticket sells that the shows are canceled. Its very bad for there business. I don't think that they knew that by them talking politically especially putting down the president would have such a bad backlash.

Yep, I think they deserve it. When your a role model you pay for your consequences just like everyone else.
