First of all, I really liked Linty's answer and can relate to much of his childhood experiences (including the dread bowl haircuts, snowball fights, made-up games with loads of siblings, playing alone -- and very creatively so, getting punched on the same damned arm all the time by one of my older brothers, fondness for nature and the outdoors, etc.). That said, I shall endeavour to answer all of your questions as per usual, Moon.

I grew up in a large family (three brothers and two sisters) in the Buffalo, NY area which meant long winters (which as a kid were loads of fun) and perfect summers (erm, we didn't get a spring but autumn was nice). I smile when I recall the happier times, particularly summer vacations and Christmastime. My best friend lived across the street and we really counted on each other through thick and thin, though there were lots of cool kids (and plenty of villains too) in our neighbourhood. Still, all in all, I was likely happier in childhood than at any time since.

Favourite games included: street hockey, football, baseball, kickball, badminton, croquet, miniature golf, darts, frisbee, freeze tag, black panther, scavenger hunts and -- though not exactly "games" by definition -- bike riding, hiking, camping, fishing and otherwise just enjoying the freedom and innocence of being a child.

Favourite board games included: Risk, Monopoly, Clue, Yahtzee, Pit, Masterpiece, Life, Stratego, Mousetrap, Twister and this amazingly awesome game which featured the most elaborate board and pieces -- everything glowed so you could play in the dark -- called Green Ghost. So cool!

Favourite toys included: Lego, Matchbox & Hot Wheels cars, Tonka trucks, Fisher Price sets, toy soldiers, Cowboys & Indians (I used to make the Indians win), Lite Brite, and others I'm forgetting now.

I was not a lonely child, if not just because I was constantly surrounded by siblings and/or friends, but I did find I liked my quiet time alone. I was described as more like a "little man" than a little boy as a child and I think that's very accurate. I think I always enjoyed reading more than most of my peers, though playing was fun, as well.

I think I've already answered your last few follow-up questions earlier, so I'll leave it there. Thanks for asking a nice series of questions that really made me reach back in time to come up with the answers, Moon. Very definitely some good memories in there... I wouldn't mind going back. :)

My innocence, sigh.
My family were big into board and card games - I still love em.
Barbies - I had a job and bought everything Barbie.
I was a loner type child. Spent a lot of time in the closet w said Barbies.
Older sister and brother - we did not get along. Bro. deceased now. Sis and I get along today.
We lived in Dallas, Texas, where you know it's hot! However one year there was a great ice storm and our pool froze about 4" thick - it was much fun to skate on!
I read a lot and still do. We went on typical family vacations like lake camping, Disneyland, and a once a year trek up North to visit family. We drove everywhere (5 ppl in a car for 24 hrs, drove straight through!)
My childhood wasn't idyllic, but I miss it anyway. And I am thankful for the things that I really had so good.
Thanks for asking - made me smile:)

Goodness.. Pop quiz first thing this morning...

What makes me smile with memories? Summer nights when it's too hot to sleep, so everyone would go to our granny's house and play tag in the yard after dark, or play with the water hose to cool down.

Favorite Games?.. When I was really young Candy Land, then I would have to say much later Board game Sorry, and then later card games like Rummy, and Skip-Bo..

Favorite Toys? I had a favored set of paperdolls that I took very good care of, I loved Lite Brite, and my bicycle.

Friends, I had one best friend since kindergarten, but I had many family members that were close to and younger than my age, so we never lacked for someone to pal around with.

I have 3 brothers 1 older, and 2 younger and one younger sister, with whom I shared a room with, and we were kinda all friends, but the younger brothers are twins, so they were mostly friends with each other, my older brother was normally the one who was a bully, and my sister and I got along most of the time great, especially if there was a thunderstorm, she would wake me to say she was scared, so she would jump in bed with me .. although my bed was closer to the window, guess she just needed the moral support.

I lived in a few places in Missouri, we moved about 4 times when I was really young, but settled into the home my parents currently live in now. The weather was really warm Summers, and pretty cold Winters, and we always wished for snow at Christmas time.

What else did I like to do?.. Climb trees.. go for walks with friends to the little country store, sleepovers. And watching movies was really fun and new, play video games on Nintendo, go to the river to floar around on innertubes....we didn't travel much, or camp, but I had a full life.

Thanks for asking

Good questions! Hmmm.........
My bowl haircut. My dad cut our hair. Nuff said :))

snowball fights, football, chutes and ladders, tag, and lots of homemade games we made up(usually involving running and tackling or some kind of piling on!).

Tonka truck, matchbox cars, space 1999 spaceship,

I had friends from the neighborhood and we played a lot but mostly I was very shy and stayed in my room for hours. I actually enjoyed being alone just making inventions and playing cars or reading.

I had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Growing up only one sister and one brother lived at home at the time. We were friends although my older brother used to constantly punch me in the arm. Should repay him for that someday. LOL

I lived in south jersey. typical weather. nothing extreme in south jersey---except for the cows.

we went camping a lot, to the beach, I loved reading, day dreaming, just walking around the neighborhood and observing nature, painting, drawing, etc.

Thanks for the thoughtful questions. It was nice to start my work week of with some good old memories of the past.

forgot some of my fave toys: legos, erector set, can't remember what they're called but it built a log cabin, rock'm sock'm,

Hello Moon!! I smile when I think of my now deceased grandmother giving me a kiss on the forehead and tucking me into bed at night. You see, she is the one that practically raised me as a child, and she is the one who chose my name. :)

We loved to play board games at her house, and one of my favorites was a game called Wahoo (played with marbles). We also loved playing Yahtzee, Monopoly, a card game called, Spoons, another card game called, Rook, and on and on!!! We loved going to church on Sunday morning with grandma, then coming back to her house for a wonderful, homemade dinner, and then afterwards, it was time for games!! :) What wonderful, wonderful memories!!
One of my favorite toys as a child, was my Easy Bake oven, lol. What can I say, I enjoyed "cooking", and always enjoyed messing around in the kitchen. I even loved cleaning the kitchen as a youngster, lol!! Yep, I was a very strange child. :)

I was the oldest child, and had one sister just 15 months younger than me. I also had a half sister that was 4 years younger. I come from a rather confusing family, and will not even begin to explain it all here, lol. I was always friends with my just younger sister, but we did have our squabbles as teenagers. We both fought most with our younger, half-sister, as she was completely spoiled rotten, and always throwing a fit about something, lol.

I would say that I was somewhat lonely as a child, but not overly so. I often enjoyed being alone, just as I still do today. I didn't have many friends, and was always painfully shy and awkward. I've never liked the way that I look, and can remember even now, looking at myself in the mirror as a child, and always comparing myself to my sisters (who have always been far more attractive than I). Yes, I had (have) issues, I admit it, but I'm much better today, than I used to be, thankfully. :)

I was born and raised in Missouri. The winters used to be very cold, and we had much more snow then we do today. The summers have always been fairly hot and humid, but now seem to be even more so, much to my disliking!!

We used to all go to the lake quite a bit in the summer time, and rent a trailer for a week or so. I mostly swam and sunbathed all summer long. Ahh, the good old days, when I had no thoughts of frying my skin, or developing skin cancer!! I've always enjoyed listening to music, reading, and watching TV. My stepfather loved watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke, so I have fond memories of watching those shows with the rest of my family. I also remember watching the Ed Sullivan Show, lol.

I apologize for writing such a lengthy answer to your question(s), but think it would have been more than a little difficult to answer your questions sufficiently, with a short answer. :)

Thanks for bringing up so many wonderful memories!! :)

When I was four my grandfather replaced my teddy bear with a rubber chicken (his name was Fred). I slept with Fred every day till I was ten, when the neighbor's dog got a hold of it.
Over the years, I've had other chickens, but it's just not the same. Fred was irreplaceable, and without him I might have grown up to be *shudders* normal.
