Make up goes as far back as history goes, haha. People have been concerned about appearances for forever. Literally. If it wasn't a bit of powder, or some really strange animal/plant-turned-to-rouge, it was something else. We countless have make-up or perfume jars from the Greek time period (which is the one I'm most familiar with). Easily back to 600 B.C.E.
If you're looking for how important make-up was even back-in-the-day, consider this:
The Greek word for general make-up gear was "cosmos" which is the same word for the universe. We see this word today in words like.. well, cosmos, and cosmopolitan (which is the title of magazine based on fashion and appearance). You can find the same thing in Latin... the word for the world was "mundus" which could also mean all the general stuff for make up.
So makeup has been around for ages. It's been important because like it or not, appearance has been an important part of society for centuries.
And for the record, I rarely (very rare!) wear makeup.

Just date the woman with the unpainted face. Seriously, it is a cultural thing for the most part. Americans has taken it and made it their own. Actually, make-up should be worn very lightly, maybe some mascara, eyeliner, and gloss. Possibly some concealer for those who need it. Some women go over board and have not learned how to put on make-up. You are really suppose to wear make-up as if you are not wearing it. More make-up should be worn when going out to a party and in the evening time. It is a lot behind it, any one should not be able to wear it.

I really think that men were the first to wear makeup, to be honest. Back in Victorian times, men wore wigs, too. Sooner or later, women started to wear it, instead. It just looks better, that way, anyhow. Unfortunately, women feel like they are more attractive with make up on and some wear it every day and refuse to be seen without it. I think if a woman is pretty enough, she doesn't need it. Even if a woman ISN'T preety enough, she should feel comfortable enough without it. I wear it only on special occasions like Christmas parties and stuff. Anything else, no. It's good that you appreciates a woman's true beauty. Best of luck to you.

People have been wearing makeup since the beginning. (see link) It's a natural desire to enhance your features and mask those you don't like. Humans just have a natural desire to be pleasing to the eye.
Lots of women wear makeup, but based on some that I've seen, many don't know how to wear it CORRECTLY. When makeup is applied correctly you shouldn't even notice that she is wearing it. Good luck, but I don't think you'll ever find a woman that doesn't like to wear makeup now and then.
We're just trying to look pretty for you guys! Sheesh! Never satisfied, are you??? ;)

The use of makeup began pre egyptian times. Women use it to accentuate their features, and hide flaws.
Good luck in your search but remember that its not whats on the face that counts, its the personality behind it.

Make up is a horrible yet wonderfull thing... it is horrible because without it... then girls wouldn't have to wear it. But for us girls with flaws and don't exactly have beautiful faces, makeup becomes a wonderful thing because it helps to hide those flaws and make us feel a bit prettier.
