A spa day.
That would be a wonderful thing to get when you turn 40.
I think I may even give myself that gift this year when I hit 44.

For the practical 40 year young woman: give her a gift card to either an appliance store or to a home-improvement market. For a 40-year young lady who would love to be pampered, how about a day at the spa or a day with you or shopping (for things for her) and a nice dinner with you? If you want to let her pick her own gift or gifts...how about a department store gift card? The best gift you can give the 40-year young woman, if she is like me...something homemade and from the heart. For my 40th birthday, my beautiful daughter had a picture she had taken on a trip to Iceland framed in a simple frame and gave it to me. This meant a great deal to me as we have always spoken of our heritage together. Gifts from the heart and homemade are always the BEST!

They say that "Life begins at 40", so I would work with that theme. I think that cash would be the best gift, unless the female is wealthy. I would enjoy gift certificates to get my nails done and a pedicure. That would be cool, especially if the gift giver went with me.

A team of housecleaners to clean the place (house, apartment) with a fine-toothed comb top to bottom, wash and iron all the clothes - absolutely EVERYTHING taken care of. The birthday girl should be taken out for the day and upon her return...WOW!!! Bowled right over, I would say.
