I would love to move there, but I am on a limited income and so cost of apts, utilities, taxes, etc. are important to know. What is the character of the town? I fell in love with the place when I visited, but I live in Austin and love it here, but the heat here in Texas is more than I can take.
So tell me what you love and hate about your city. Cost of living if you can and is there a decent bus system! LOL Thanks bunch.

Colorado Springs is a GREAT town. I've worked with the military here for years, and I know dozens and dozens of people who have gotten out of the Army or the Air Force just to be able to stay here.

One indication of how great a place this is can be seen by how fast it's growing. All over town there are places that I remember as fields or hillsides that are now housing tracts. Of course, this is both bad and good - some nice open areas are disappearing.

Cost of living in Colorado Springs is certainly less than most large metropolitan areas (NY, Chicago, Dallas, anywhere in CA). The cost of living index (first link below) shows the Springs costing a little less than national averages.

The Springs is a great place to live because it's gorgeous, right up against the Rocky Mountains with Pikes Peak visible from anywhere in town. It's got major sports just an hour away in Denver, and minor league and college teams right here in town. Plenty of concerts and other culture, again here in town for local, friendly stuff and up in Denver for the big international touring acts.

I came to Colorado Springs 22 years ago, and like it so much that I'm not leaving.
