I tried to dig out the root systems(biggest roots were hollow, and about 9 inches around!!) and thought that would do it, but a year later, they came back! What gets rid of them???

I like to change my garden every year, and peonies don't fit in with that. I'd rather put roses or trellises with climbing vines.

put a sign up saying "FREE PEONIES" you dig...i bet several ppl will stop and volunteer to dig them up...also make sure they fill the holes back in unless you dont mind doing it just to get rid of the peonies....i love these flowers and cant get enough of them...currently have about 20 and looking to add abuot 10 more this fall but of course we have 2 acres and have plenty of room

are you in kentucky? the central part? i would gladly dig them up if you were close to me and i would make sure to get all of the roots

When you cut them off, take and drive a nail or drill a whole in the root system. Then pour root killer down in it or something like Round-up in it. That should kill em out.

Anyone who wants to get rid of peonies should rethink their garden plan!
