I like the goth subculture and I think I'd like to be one, however, would I be a poser if I didn't worship the devil? I'm actually quite religious.

No, of course not. I see questions like yours every day or other, and it's just because gothic subculture is something you don't know about. Don't worry about it; there is good and bad in goth, like every subculture everywhere. Here: try visiting net.goth, and click on the column on the left that says 'goth?' for a good explanation. Satanists worship the devil, not goths.

Some goths are satanists, just as some goths are christian.

No you do not have to worship satan, or even be an atheist.

No...goth is a personal expression, not an expression of religion. I had many friends in high school who were a part of goth culture and attended church more regularly than the "preppy" crowd

No. Plenty of Goths could care less about satanism. That's just one of those stupid generalizations put out there by the media.

No, I don't think you have to be into the devil and satan and stuff. I think Goths mostly like the dark clothes and attitude.

They are two separate things. Satanism is NOT devil worship, please learn before you ask.

I am both, but one doesn't necessarily imply the other. You choose, you be the judge of yourself.

The thing is, you don't become goth. It's a series of tastes and inclinations. It depends on you, not on trends.

No. Far from it. Actually, very few Goths identify as Satanists. They are far more likely to identify religiously as Christian, Jewish, Wiccan, Atheist, or Spiritual but Not Religious.

Not at all.
I'm a Christian, but I like gothic art, and gothic style clothing.
Not all goths worship the devil.

You dont have to be a follower, be a leader and no you wouldnt be a poser, youd be unique. your looks are different from your religious beliefs so you can be what you want to be. Believe in what you belive in and dress however it makes you happy man. People who will criticize you are weak and perhaps jealose that they arent strong enough to make a decision like yours.
they arent you and do not live your life.
Be yourself

I was goth before goth was cool, and I'm not into that satanic crap. I am a full blown, God fearing, Bible beating Christian!
