It won't effect me, I don't smoke. I don't know why people complain about the price of cigerettes, why don't you quit (not to be rude).

I mean I have seen what they do to people. My great grandmother died of lung cancer and my grandma is dying now of the same thing. They both smoked. My grandma is on oxygen 24/7 and she still refuses to quit. She just takes the oxygen off and smokes and then puts it back on.

I am SO GLAD that my fiance quit before we met, he keeps talking about picking it back up every winter for the mentol (so he doesn't get sick) but I FORBID it! We have a baby girl we need to spend that money on, not cigs so we don't get sick! Besides that is BULL! I tell him to take DayQuil! LOL!

Besides the cure to the increasing money in them is to quit, you will have more money for yourself! (speaking of money you asked a question on money before, send me an email and I can tell you how you can earn a little extra in your spare time for free, if you are still interested).

I dont smoke, but in the UK the price of a pack of malboro lights is about £4 which is around $7. So as a result we all go over to Spain and buy them on the cheap. Market forces!

Well it adheres to the principle, 'Tax what you want to discourage.' If we can all agree that smoking is harmful to ones health and addictive, then it's a good choice for taxing until everyone quits. But I dunno. I've been smoking for over 30 years. I don't think I could quit now, even if they raised the tax to 10 bucks a pack. Couldn't we pick on drinkers, gambling, or hookers for awhile?

I'm a homeowner and pay extremely high property tax. I don't know if this option will work, I guess it's worth a try.
