That all depends on what you're using to measure standard of living. The UN Human Development Index is probably a decent measure. The United States ranks 10th, below Norway, Iceland, Australia, Luxembourg, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, and Belgium.

Poor, but that doesn't mean that we are as bad off as most 3rd world countries. We really don't know what poor is because we have access to help services here in the U.S.
