Nothing. When I was a kid my mom always made me make my bed. I argued with her that it was stupid because I would just be messing it up again. I never won! I never make my bed now and it is always waiting for me when I go back. Don't tell your mom I said that!

Actually I've heard that if you make the bed right away that you will get more dust mites because the bed doesn't get a chance to air out from the moisture and sweat from your body. In theory it's supposed to be better to leave it unmade with the sheets pulled back so it can "air out."

The only bad thing that can happen from it being unmade is that your room looks messy and if you have pets they may sleep on it and leave hair and dirt behind. It's easier to fold laundry on a bed that is at least partially made because you have a smooth surface. For some people they feel stressed out if the bed is unmade because the bedroom is messier. That's about it.

Nothing will happen if you don't make it, but who wants to sleep in a messy bed? It always feels better to get back into bed if the sheets and covers have been straightened. Also, if you don't make the bed dust collects on the sheets and then your sleeping in the dirt! Might as well go out and sleep in the yard! Try making the bed, you'll feel better about yourself!

It depends...

Are you the type that entertains and company comes into your bedroom and sees that its not made? Then they talk about you behind your back.

If your the type that NEEDS to sleep in a made up bed, then you just make it up before you go to bed.

If your a neat freak and you "know" that it needs made, and it bugs you all day til you do it, then you will certainly have to make that bed up before anything else is done because your going to have a fit in a few short minutes because its becoming a World class phobia with you now :)

That crumpled up old bed is gonna stare at you before you go to bed, and wont be as comfortable to get in, because its all messed up and you like a nice tidy bed to sleep in, instead of a rumpled up mess, so, you will get in, and not be comfortable, then get right back out again and make it, then, get in and have a good comfortable sleep again and in the morning, decide if you want to do it all over again....

I wish you well

When you go to bed the next time the sheets and covers will be wrinkled and messy and (in my opinion) uncomfortable to sleep on. Making the bed makes it look nicer during the day and more comfortable at night because the sheets are nice and smooth and the covers are neat and in order.

IF YOU DON'T MAKE YOUR BED, GOD WILL PUNISH YOU. JUST KIDDING. IF YOU MAKE YOUR BED, IT JUST LOOKS MORE PEACEFUL AND NEATO. LOOKING ALL MADE UP LIKE THAT MAY MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD, BUT - WELL, IF YOU HAVE PARENTS, THIS WHOLE THING COULD GET RELENTLESS, BUT IF YOU'RE LIVING BY YOUR LITTLE LONESOME, LAUGH OUT LOUD AND MAKE THE BED SOMETIMES AND LEAVE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS OTHER TIMES AND MOVE ON TO WHAT KIND OF SOAP YOU'D LIKE TO TRY OUT THE NEXT TIME YOU GO FOR A LONG, HOT SOAK TO RELAX YOUR NERVES! JUST KIDDING WITH YOU, SENT WITH MUCH LOVE FROM G. IN SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE. USA.

When you don't make a bed it remains unmade but gets aired out a bit!
