If it still plays CDs/DVDs, then the problem isn't the lens. It sounds like there is some internal software (or hardware) glitch in the "games" part of the system. This is likely fixable, but the cost of repairing it will not be much less than buying a new one. If it is a really early Xbox, there was a recall on some of them for bad dvd drives...i'd go to Microsoft's Xbox site and look into that. Otherwise, with the 360 system out now, the original Xbox system should be getting cheaper. I'd consider buying a new or refurbished unit. Hope this info helped a little.

Jeez - i hate that abut the x-boxes. 2 options:
1 - See if you can get the DVD drive changed. Hopefully that'll just make life easier.
2 - My brother had the same problem with his x-box - so he just dumped it and got an X360. Makes like a hell of a lot more fun.
But do visit the x-box official website. The first lot of x-boxes (i think with the Thomson drives) were faulty and Microsoft will give you a free replacement (of the drive).
Good luck man!

Video gaming systems don't last too long. They give problems after about 2 years of use. So i suggest you either get a new console or upgrade to a 360. I think prices go down in July, so wait a bit. :)

Sorry to tell you this dude, but sadly.... your Xbox is on its way to Game Console heaven. I kept getting that error with my Xbox and it finally needed to get fixed. Something having to do with the lens not being aligned or something.
