My father has been placed in jail a few times for not paying his child support. He hasn't paid in a few years and has racked up quite a tab. He lives out of the state that I do, so he will only be placed in jail if he sets foot in the state that I am in (and is caught). (he is actually on the DOT's most wanted list of deadbeat dads, but enough about me) It's not an immediate thing I do not believe, there are lengthy court proceedings that my mother has had to endure and lawyer bills as well. But child support isn't something that goes away, once its owed it's always owed. (at least in massachusetts!)
