because shoes are just complicated and they don't stay tied. I have laces that are supposed to stay tied but they untie every 10 minutes.

It's a shoelace conspiracy. Mine do the same thing. I've had to doubleknot the suckers.

because it loosens as you walk. just double knot it and it will stay tied all day.

Double knot it, i do that OR get a new pair of shoes that dont have tying knots! ( I LUV THOSE!! )

Perhaps you have rope laces with too much wax on them?
If so, iron your laces. reduces the wax, makes them much more manageable.
