My question is does anyone know if General Hospital the soap opera still do the nurse's ball? It used to be a huge event on the show and since I have just started watching the show again and was wondering. Also, are there any fans out there who love the show as much as I do?

"No More Nurse's Ball!

It has been announced that there is no Nurse's Ball this year on General Hospital (and presumably, Port Charles as well). There isn't any reason given as of yet.
The show will still act like the doctors, nurses, et al. are having the Nurse's Ball, we just won't get to see it on camera.

The only speculation I've seen about why this might be, is that due to Port Charles' new shooting schedule, it would be too difficult to co-ordinate shooting between the two shows and have the ball air concurrently on both shows. I don't think this is really the reason, however.

First of all, I've got to assume that the shooting schedule is planned way in advance, and so it would be easy enough to co-ordinate if they really wanted to. Secondly, they could just show it on GH but not PC, which would be easiest enough (it's not like the cast members of PC contribute all that much to the Nurse's Ball, anyway).

I don't know what kind of ratings the Nurse's Balls get, but I'm sure they are very popular with fans. Polls I've seen show that fans want their Nurse's Ball. I've never met anyone who didn't like them.

My guess is, someone in charge of GH doesn't like them. This could be the writers. The new writers are Charles Pratt and Bob Guza. Guza is reknowned for liking dark stories. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that having your characters dance in chorus lines and sing love songs doesn't equate with "dark". It could be the actors. Perhaps they are sick of doing it every year and they have complained so much, that this has contributed to the decision. But I don't think so; actors are hams and getting the chance to show off their singing and dancing would be something I'll bet they enjoy.

It could be the producers somewhere down the line. Maybe it IS the ratings. Or maybe organizing the music, etc. is an mess that they just didn't feel was worth it any more. Or perhaps they just thought that some of the numbers done at the Nurse's Ball are cheesy and don't show GH in a good light (they may be partly right about that). Or maybe the ratings were down last year and they figure if they take a year off, maybe next year we will appreciate the Nurse's Ball more.

I don't know what the reason is. All I know is that it will be sorely missed by fans. And there is so much talent on the show right now. Both Jacob Young (Lucky) and Coltin Scott (Nikolas) have CD's out or coming out, and their singing was the highlight for me last year. It's always a treat to hear Stuart Damon (Alan) sing. With everyone else, it's just fun to see what they will come up with!

Write to the Powers that be and tell them you want to see the Nurse's Ball come back next year!

Take our POLL to let us know how you feel about the Nurse's Ball!"

Nightshift is a spinoff grom GH. It shows what happens at the hospital during the night. It has some of the same characters like Robin, Patrick, Leo but the storylines are different and don't intertwine with GH, except for Robin being pregnant.

No more Nurses Ball :( . I thought that they might have started it back up when Robin came back to town, but no such luck. It wouldn't be the same without Lucy though!

Lucy is gone, no more Nurse's Ball! Nobody could do it like she could anyway. I'm sure they will come up with *something* that is just as spectacular. Hang in there!
