As you know, when you open your inbox a list of your emails appear. Presently, after I select one, read it, then delete it, the next email in my list automatically opens for reading. I dislike this action and up until about one month ago it did not happen. I was able to return to my inbox and have my choice of which one to open. I have checked everywhere in the "options" to enable converting this back to the way it was, but to no avail.
I'd much appreciate a hot tip on how to get it done.

I do not want emails from spam sources opening. As well as possibly being malicious, they can tip off the source that the email addy is valid.

If you were to delete the emails from you Inbox selecting the checkbox next to the items you'd like to delete - it will not open up the next email.
Just read your emails, skip the ones you don't want to read and then delete when you're done.
