Heres the deal-I just started getting emails from paypal that say things like "thanks for adding an email" & " thanks for purchasing.." one of them said that they thought there was "suspicious activity" on my account. My problem is that I DON'T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT! I started to sign up on thru ebay, but only got as far as name & address because you have to enter your credit card # & that makes me nervous! Anyway, I emailed paypal about it & they haven't repsonded, except for some emails about my purchases.(which I haven't done). I emailed ebay today, & called my credit card company to close my Account & change my #---there have been no charges on my credit card yet. So is it possible someone is using my name on a credit card that has a different address? How to I go about finding out if this is true? I am freaking out! Has eanyone else had emails like this from paypal?
PLEASE HELP!!!

It is possible that someone stole your information.

But, it is more likely that you are getting phishing emails. These emails try to get you to give up your personal information so that it can be used by thiefs. Whatever you do, DO NOT give them any personal information by clicking on a link embedded in the email. Then you will have a identity theft problem.

Sounds like regular ol' Spam to me. The emails aren't really coming from PayPal, they're from fraudulent spammers that are trying to get you to contact them. Once you do, they ask you to verify your CC info, and then they use it to buy stuff without your knowledge.

As long as there have been no charges on your CC you don't remember making, don't worry about it. Block their email addresses and forget it ever happened.

These are called phishing scams. They send you emails asking for personal information that they then use to commit identity theft.

NEVER respond to them. Ebay or Paypal will never send an email asking for this information.

you should try going to the police as well, and keep doing what you're doing by calling ebay and paypal. I hope everything works out, people are such creeps nowadays, I mean gosh!
