Hi there! I am 30 weeks pregnant. I take a prenatal vitamin every night that has 28 mg (156% dv) of iron in it. My doctor said at my last visit that my iron was getting a little low, so she prescribed Feosol Iron Supplements for me to take daily with my vitamin. It has 45 mg (250% dv) of iron in them. Doesn't 73 mg (406% dv) seem like alot? I'm scared I am going to overdose on iron.

You only have 10 weeks of pregnancy left. You need more iron in the latter part of your pregnancy than at the beginning. Probably by a month or less postpartum, you can cut back on the iron. If you get constipation or diarrhea, you could cut down on the iron a little. Too much iron gives me diarrhea instead of constipation.

If you doctor prescribed it I doubt it is bad for you but it will probably upset your stomach and possibly make you constipated.
