I heard that Ayrton Senna intentionally forced Alain Prost off the track at Suzuka in 1989. Is this true?

I am quoting verbatim from a book, which I think may answer all your questions (apart from the speaking after the race - they probably never spoke to each other anyway, if what I have heard of the relationship is true!)

"A bitter season reached its climax in a suitably controversial Japanese GP. Senna needed to win to retain hopes of keeping his world championship crown. However, Suzuka was one of the few races in which Prost was able to dominate his normallhy quicker teamp-mate, leading narrowly for the majority of the race.

On the 47th lap, Senna made an ambitious passing manoevre into the chicane, Prost turned into the corner early to block Senna's advance and the cars touched. Prost stepped from his but Senna returned to the track, pitted, retook the lead and won. However, he was subsequently disqualified for not rejoining the circuit at the point at which he had left it, and Prost was declared World Champion!"

I was watching when it happened. Yes, it was intentional. Senna wanted to wrap up the title and crashing Prost out secured his points lead.

It was a moderate shunt. No injuries as I recall but both cars were out of the race, right at the beginning.
