have about 30-40 trees....maples, oaks, mimosa, cedars, pines, spruces, golden chain tree, walnuts, sourwoods aka sorrell tree, dogwoods, bradford pears, bald cypress, tulip poplars, sycamores, willows including weeping willow, washington hawthorn and a few others

trees are good for windbreaks in winter time and shade in summer..they can also cut heating/cooling costs...a shaded house in summer is easier to cool than one that is in full sun...also plenty of trees can help break the wind in the winter time to help keep your house warmer also...we are just waiting on ours to get big because we have only been here 2 yrs and i planted most of the trees that are here

I have about 30 mature cedar, hemlock, fir and big leaf maples in my front yard alone. Probably another 30 in back. I also have a few trees that I actually planted: vine maple, lace leaf maple, weeping cherry, japanese willow. We took down two 100+ foot firs last year (too close to the house) and have several more slated for removal. Hemlocks are very dangerous to have up close to structures; their shallow root systems make them prone to falling in high winds, especially where the ground gets saturated in winter.
