As a general rule it would be good to keep an anti virus on any computer regardless.

The problem comes with the fact that all anti virus programs are only good if they are kept updated. So if this machine does not have any internet connection at all the anti virus would be useless with in a month anyways.

It would probably be best to keep an antivirus program resident if you are networked at all. This is especially true if you are sharing files that are compressed where the virus could be hidden until you open the file.

Yes, it is still worth installing as a virus can be even small enough to fit on a floppy disk and thousands would go onto a CDR.

yes you can get virus from disk containing software as well as from the Internet

yes, viruses can be stored into disks and when you install them they infect your computer. Thats without protection
