I hope the US gets eliminated. I think they have a very difficult group with Italy and the Czech Republic (Ghana is a question mark that could turn into a headache). I think the novel American football (and I mean soccer) fans still view this as another sport which they can dominate if they just put their minds and dollars into it. Unfortunately for them, in this sport it takes more than that.

Frankly I hope we win it all but it's gonna be tough. Monday's match is kinda do or die.

By the way, in case you think England's gonna win, you can be sure that's a pipedream. Maybe you'll lose to the "argies" like in '86!

PS To the fellow who posted above me, we made it to the 2nd round in '94, beat the mexicans in the 2nd round in 2002. Not enough of us will be watching, but more will than you think. I'm taking off work on Monday for the match with the czechs.

Group E is the group of death - and Ghana is being underestimated. I don't think the US will get out of the group, and frankly I'm fine with that.

I'm American but I don't think a deep US run in the tournament would be good for the World Cup due to security factors and quality-of-play. I'd rather see Italia and Ghana advance.

the us is in a very strong group but are still one of the most interesting dark horses of the competition.

they are clearly going to knock the living daylights out of ghana, but if they even take a draw off italy or the czech republic it is likely to indicate that the us needs watching carefully over the next decade and more.

either italy or the czech republic would certainly be capable of winning the competition - assuming they can get past the us that is.

england will not really be tested in the first round. paraguay are hardly at their strongest at the moment, and trinidad and tobago are lucky to be in the competition at all.

these days the english team needs that sort of luck.

They wont get part the first round ( they never do )
I also dont think many US citizens will be watching it either. They are more interested in superbowl and base ball and NASCAR etc

I think a middle eastern country should beat them by a score of 9 - 11
or the Japonese could win by Kamikaze runs at the goal and shouting " remember Pearl Harbour "

I personally hope the US do really well in the World Cup (although they're in a difficult group) because I got them in our sweep at work (boo hoo!).

Hope Germany don't make the knockout stages though!!

Sounds like some Brit wanker's getting a bit nervous that we might be getting as good in our fifth sport as they are in their national sport.

Realize that soccer is now the preferred sport in the suburbs amongst the kids who aren't pituitary freaks, so American soccer continues to grow.
