I live in the US and will be travelling to Prague next week. What is the best and cheapest way to call home (US) from there? Any calling cards/plans you would recommend? Thanks.

We do not have phone cards but you could use normal phone if calling home phone it will cost you aroun 40c a minute. U could also use a T=mobile cell phone to call us cell phones, that is cheaper than callin us cell phone from czech home phone. The best way to do it thoug is not to call us at all. They can call you 300 mins for 5 dollas. Thats the way I do it.
I know, it sucks but we just do not have phone cards or any plans whatsoever. At least I do not know of any.

Good Luck and enjoy your stay in CR.

Hello I am Czech. You can buy different calling cards there. I really do not know the plans that well. It is pretty expensive to call from there. You can go to any library and use the internet. In some libraries you have to pay for the usage of the internet, but it is pretty cheap.I just want to tell you something, do not buy anything from anyone of the street. Many people from different countries (not the Czechs) sell czech fake money on the street.
You will be cool in Prague, allmost anyone speaks English there. Just to give you a heads up, to go to a restaurant in the heart of Prague is still reasonable for Americans, but go ahead and walk or take a subway a little further away from the center and you will get a great deal on everything. Prague really caters to visitors so everything is a little more than anywhere else. Try the traditional Czech meal-knedlo, zelo, vepro-It is ssssoooooooooo good. Have a great vacation, czech people like the americans, so I know you will have a great time.

Prague is one of the towns worth-visit and to achieve that you can start planning your holiday with hotelbye . Beginning with the wonderful region around the Prague Castle or the Strahov monastery with its exceptional selection and finish with …the entire outstanding town, Prague is just incredible. In Prague you may also visit the small house where Franz Kafka labored or the lovely Prague Castle gardens from where you could enjoy a special view of the city with its picturesque red roofs. In this town you'll never get bored. If you should go throughout the spring you will see the spring trees in bloom; in summer time you will see long dusks; fall provides you with colorful leaves and unique gentle and in the wintertime you will relish the complete city protected with innocent white snow.
