Yes. That's fine. Don't rush him, he's right on track.

All babies do things at thier own pace. Each baby has a different personality and some are determined to be able to do things for themselves as early as possible, and others are ok with letting other people help them do things. I have a 4 1/2 month old and she started sitting up about 2 weeks ago. She has been the independent type since day one. If she can't do something, she gets VERY frustrated! Everyone I know can't believe she is already sitting at that age. She still hasn't mastered the roll from belly to back though. Try sitting your baby up with pillows, or a boppy pillow if you have one, they work great! Also, when your baby is laying down, pull him to a sitting position while holding his arms. Make sure you give him ample assisted sitting time as this is how he will develop those muscles to sit on his own. Don't worry, he is perfectly normal! He will sit, roll, stand, walk, etc. when he is ready to. If you are ever concerned, just discuss it with his pediatrician...that's what you are paying him for!

You need to check with your pediatrician. According to the standards for development by age, he does seem a little behind. But don't be alarmed. As everyone here has stated, babies move at their own pace. I have a five month old who can't support herself for too long.

What you need to do in the meantime is practice with your baby. Put him on his back and pull the blankets from under him on one side so he'll roll over. This will get him use to the movement.

Mine is going to be 6 months tomorrow and she is doing the same thing. She can't quite hold herself up yet, although she tries, and she can only roll from back to tummy. Don't rush him, every baby is different.
Like my two boys, my first one started walking at 9 months, while my second didn't start walking until 13 months. It depends on the child, some are faster than others, but the good thing is, it's their choice when they start, and you'll love it.

I think that is a little bit behind. I mean children grow at their own paces but when my baby was 6 months was walking on furniture forward backward and turned around. I have a friend however who's son at 8 months could only sit if you put him there and would play on his hands and knees only if you put him there. Basically it changes each baby. I think he may be a little behind but with a little work he should be ok. If he has a play group with kids his age he will probably learn quicker, they normally do. Here is a link to proper development for infants. But I would try and find a mommy and me group. That will probably help alot and it would be fun for both of you!

I would say yes. Each child develops at its own rate. Just be sure to give him ample floor time, and ample tummy time.

Also, give him some help by sitting him with his little feet touching and his hands on some sort of toy, it will help him gain his balance and build the muscles he needs to hold himself up. Or wedge him between some pillows, or a boppie if you have one. just watch him so when he falls over he doesnt smother himself.

Their butts are still so round right now, sitting is no easy matter! Just help him along as much as you can, he'll discover how to do it at his own pace.

Perfectly fine....babies develop at different rates. My daughter and my nephew are 6 weeks apart (she's older) and he cold do lots of thing before she could -- we lovingly joked that she had a "lard butt" when it came to rolling over! He was born in July and at Thanksgiving he was rolling all ove the place. She had just started rolling from belly to back! Your little one will get there. He just has his own time table!

Do Not Worry, My little girl is7 months, she took a long time to do certain things too. If you look in the baby books they say "they should be able to". Some babies crawl earlier, some walk earlier etc. Try using your hands to hold his and let him pull himself up with as little help as possible. This will help him get used to sitting up. By the way, my girl is just now sitting up on her own. Don't fret, he'll be fine. And aren't they just precious?

The babycenter tells you all that stuff and there is a milestone chart. Trust experts. Try not to compare with other babies because every babys development is different. My babies were able to sit without support at around 7 months. When they were 6 months, I always had to put a pillow behind them.

Have you told his doctor? My son wasn't rolling either way when he was 6months. If you haven't told his doc you might want to bring it up.
There could be some kind a developmental delay its better caught early, my son still has occupational therapy and physical therapy.
He is 2 now

All babies develop differently. My younger brother started sitting up at 7 months and so did my sister. Unlike me and my daughter, we sat up at 4 months. It all depends on how he develops. Im sure he will be sitting up soon...and its not a bad idea to help him out a little. Good luck!
