The two girls who put av-ril la-veen are correct. But so you actually understand...just say it like advil but without the d and with an r before the i. And her last name is la like the word lava and the word bean only with a v. la-veen Avril is French for April but since Avril does not speak French her family pronounces it the Anglicized way (the way that I told you).

To begin with, it is a French name so you need to take this into account if you want to pronounce it correctly.
Avril means April and is pronounced "a"-vreel with the letter "a" pronounced like the "o" in the the word "hot".
La Vigne means "the vine" and is pronounced L"a" with the a pronounce like the the "o" in the word "hot".
Vee"gne" with the "gne" pronounced like the "y" in the word "yet".
Put these sounds together and you'll have a pretty close correct French pronounciation of Avril Lavigne.

( Av-ril) like April, only with a V in between the A and R (La-vig-ne). Drag the vigne out where it sounds like Veen. That's the best way that I can think of.

av-(like avenue)+ rill (like real with an i in the middle) makes avril. love+veen (like sheen with a v at the beginning) makes lavigne. not that you didn't actually know this already.
