No.. Here's the real answer...

During the Vietnam War, the NVA and Viet Cong had both men and women in their ranks as equals. The NVA's minimum age was supposed to be 15, but this was loosely enforced due to poor birth record keeping and the great number of volunteers. The Viet Cong was predominantly volunteers with no minimum age to join.

My uncle, who was an NVA major during the war, tells me that he had seen kids as young as 10 years old fighting and they volunteered. The officers had a problem keeping them away, so they turned a blind eye and let them fight.

Before you think negative of me by having an NVA general as an uncle, know that my Dad's a Vietnam Veteran and I have family on both sides of the war.

Teenagers were often used to plant bombs and would be involved w/ the Vietcong. They were considered children, and were able to get into places easier than adults could. Watch the movie - Good Morning Vietname with Robin Williams. Language is rough, but good imagry.
