That depends on your definition of a plug in air fresheners. The ones that have a built in fan with air fresheners are ok and the ones that just have the air fresheners in a bottle is okay and the ones that have a strip of air fresheners are okay. But the ones you do want to avoid are the ones that have additional outlets to plug in appliances in the front or sides of the air freshener. Those have been known to spark and could cause a fire. But as for the other types I mentioned in the beginning should be okay. I use the ones with the air fresheners in a bottle and the unit that can be bought seperately to plug in, the makers of that one is Air Wick. Good luck and I hope I was of some help to you!

I have never heard of any plug in air fresheners to catch fire. I have one in every room in my house. I have been using them for over 2 years.

Anything that plus into the wall will eventually be linked to a fire. As to whether or not they caused one... well, that's a stretch. If they caused fires, the company that makes them would be subject to massive product liability. So I'd have to say that no, they don't cause fires.

yes they can glad exspecially i heard about the thing is when it happens because they are made of plastic there is nothing left but the prongs and they arent responsible for the fires because noone can prove thats what started them because they melt away i will never use them i use baking soda water to keep my house nice and fresh its safe for children not a bunch of perfume junk and it gets every smell out you can buy some cinnimon sticks and lemons and boil them and make the house smell more naturally fresh mmmmmmm

yes the oil leaks into the outlet and wham you've got a fire! Use the coverlets the oil is enclosed in a seperate compartment and warms and releases the fragrance.

I have heard of fires from when people let the oil burn out and keep it plugged in. It just keeps heating up.
