There is now a direct bus link between LAX and Union Station/Patsouras Transit Center. See the link:

From Union Station you can take either an Amtrak train (Pacific Surfliner) to San Diego, or catch a Metrolink train to Oceanside, then transfer to a NCTD Coaster train from O'side to San Diego.

$500? I looked on lastminutetravel.com and tickets start at $154 on United.
Greyhound looks like it's under $30 for a RT ticket from East LA - this means no transfers anywhere.
Amtrak is around $30, but I couldn't find anything leaving from Union Station before 10pm.

in case you're searching for the main inexpensive thank you to get from LAX to SAN, given your heavy bags and all i'd say there 3 thoughts: a) Taka a return and forth: the main inexpensive, would take longer than using or flying yet you could purely sit down, relax and luxuriate interior the holiday. approximately $50 (see hyperlink) b) lease a motor vehicle: in case you're attentive to the roads and in case you get a competent deal, it would desire to be such as the return and forth. $40/day (+insurence, +drop-off can charge, +tax+different expenses)Cons: site visitors and gas probably provides yet another $40 to the tab. c) seize a return and forth Filgth: the costliest decision. $a hundred and fifty+. they might can charge extra on your heavy bags. Flights between LAX and SAN oftentimes are on swifter-prop planes that have severe weight barriers.
