relax and lie on your back, but be sure to slightly kick your feet a little, or your legs will start to sink, which will cause a snowball effect with the rest of your body.

Best way though::::::::> Buy an air-mattress designed for water and lay on this and float. Many of them have cup holders on each arm rest, so you can place your ice cold beverage on one side and maybe a small snack in the other.

try first in a shallow end and lift your legs up off the ground, keep your stomach up as high as you can and put your arms out at your sides, hold the air in your lungs For most people it works, but for some men they just have too much muscle to float. Fat floats, muscle sinks.

I start with my head and shoulders while I am treading water. I relax all of my muscles in the rest of my body and breath deep. Gently stick my arms out and...voila' I am floating.
I order for me to remain floating, I have to stay focused on relaxing and breathing deep.
It took me YEARS to learn to float. I would get annoyed at people who always said, "Its Easy!" It wasn't for me. I was too afraid of the water.

Lay out on your back, be very relaxed, don't wiggle or kick hard, and you should just float. Also you can be up-right in the watr and just look up to the celling, and you will float.

just lay back and relax, you should float. However, if you are super thin, you may not. My daughter is skeletal and cannot float no matter what she tries.

frispanic is right...take a deep breath, open up your arms, throw your legs up and relax, then release your air...you will float freely...if you fear drowning, try it on a low water level pool....be careful!!!
