i first noticed that something was wrong when i tried to burn a cd but none of the burning would work (nero-6, WMP-10, REAL-10).
plus when i try to run a cd, i go to my computer to open the cd, explorer.exe will not responed. also when i put in my USB flash drive, it dont show up in my computer.

I would start by ensuring these devices are well defined with proper drivers in the system device manager.

try opening a cd or jump drive in safe mode. Safe mode won't load any services or drivers. If it works, then you know where to start. Also, if available, try both devices in another known good system to verify hardware functionality

In safe mode, "unistall" the devices and restart the computer normally. that will re-install the drivers upon start up.
