My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years now, after being best friends for 4 years before that. We aren't ready to get married right now. We want to be completely financially stable first and totally ready to accept the committment. We do live together so it's not like I really feel the need to take that next step right now, but I was wondering. What age did you get married and how long did it last or has it lasted? What things did you make sure to take care of before getting married, and are there things I need to look out for in married life that you weren't expecting (like how I would no longer be insured through my parents)? I don't want to rush anything, and I want to know what I would be getting myself into... also just looking for conversation while bored to pieces at work...

Two things come to mind.
1) Children. Having kids when you are over 35 puts your babies at risk. If you are no where NEAR that age, then don't rush things.
2) When I got married, my head was CLEAR. I had dated, A LOT. I had been in love several times, been hurt several times. I did not live with my parents so I wasn't rushing things because of my home life. When I married dh I was 26 and we were not mushy-gushy love, in that movie kind of way where you don't notice the problems. We knew. Like you know your name, like you know what day it is...it was a fact..that we were a perfect fit that would last. No relationship problems at all. We have been married 13 years.

Age isn't the big issue being ready is . Being boyfriend and girl friend is fun, even playing house is fun but when it comes to husband/wife take your time or if you guys are happy now then no need to show your love on a piece of paper stay the way you are. In a loving relationship. Bottom Line DON'T RUSH things seem to change when you jump the broom.

I'm not really sure how old you are but if y'all are in love that's a start. Tell you the truth you two shouldn't be living together because it's bad before you get married. You are right to wait till you get financially stable and you and him is ready to settle down or not you two will have problems and somebody is going to be miserable or it might lead to a divorce.

How old are you and how old is he? Take your time and think this through and make sure he is the right guy for you do not rush into this. If you are under 18 I dont recommend marriage at all till at least 18 years of age and even then i would want to wait!

Anything before the age of 25 is too young. Get to know yourself and see whether he really is the one for you...people outgrow each other as they get older - that's why people who get married over the age of 30 stay married for much longer. No rush.

I got married at 19. It lasted maybe a year and a half. My advice it to wait and see. Living together is a good first step.

ME AND MY X WIFE WERE MARRIED AT 17
SHE WAS PREGNANT AND OUR PARENTS MADE US GET MARRIED. IN THE BEGINNING WE THOUGHT WE WERE IN LOVE BUT WE WERE NOT .THE MARRIAGE LASTED 5 YEARS BEFORE WE GOT DIVORCED
MY ADVICE TO YOU WOULD BE LIVE TOGETHER FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS THEN SEE WHERE YOUR AT
AND IF AFTER THAT YOU ARE IN LOVE AND WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE TOGETHER GET MARRIED . BUT DO NOT RUSH IN TO GETTING MARRIED RIGHT NOW IF YOUR NOT READY FOR ALL THE RESPONSIBILITY'S OF BEING MARRIED
REMEMBER TO LOVE AND HONOR IN HEALTH AND SICKNESS IN TIMES OF WEALTH AND DESPAIR TILL DEATH DO YOU PART WHEN YOU CAN MEET ALL OF THOSE VOWS THEN YOUR READY BUT TAKE TIME AND DON'T RUSH IN TO IT UNTIL YOUR READY

Well, if you already live together getting married isn't going to change anything. Except some financial stuff.
