You can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide you are responisble for (your carbon footprint) by:
- cutting down on car journeys and using the bus
- change electricity supplier to one who only uses renewable sources
- generate your own energy by having wind turbine or solar panels, or both!
By planting trees you are helping to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
You should use eco-friendly washing products without the harmful chemicals.
Make sure your food is as local as possible, you could try farmers markets.
There are countless things you could do to be more green.

The easiest way which is not only cheap, but saves you money is to walk rather than drive when possible. It is not only good for you, but saves massive pollutants being released into the air. You can ride a bike also instead of driving. If the distance is too great for these activities look at public transportation as a next option. If you do need to drive choose a vehicle that has both low emissions, and good gas mileage, and carpool when possible.

Ditch the plastic carrier bags & always have a reusable one with you. Also try and buy local products as much as possible especially when it come to food...I don't know about you but buying local fruit just makes more sense to me than fruit that has travelled halfway round the world! Same with meat

You can also refrain from using styrofoam products. They are not biodegradable. Also, you could always have an area litter-pickup; gather some friends and neighbors and scavenge for litter. People are always throwing things out the window of their cars. Oh, one more thing, plant a tree. Great for oxygen.

Turn the tap off when brushing your teeth - minuscule effort, but you'd be surprised how many people leave the tap running while brushing. Imagine how much clean water would be saved if we all did this!

Refuse a plastic bag in a shop when offered. Un-enviromentally aware shop assistants often offer me a bag when the product i'm buyng is alredy in a bag. If i'm able to carry it to the till, i'm able to carry it home!

Check all the labels on fresh foods in your local supermarket, only use local produce. You'll be surprised how far some foods travel.
