Answer 1:
The corresponding ages in terms of a are a,a/2,a/3,a/4,a/6.
Sum= 27a/12.
We have to only find the lowest whole no. age = 27a/12 besides a,a/2,a/3,a/4 and a/6 should also be whole numbers (obviously greater than 0 since age is always greater than 0)
The first option is for a = 4 which gives sum = 9 but as the age of e = a/6 which is a whole number this option is not taken.
The next option is a = 12 which gives sum = 27. This satisfies all the conditions. Hence the answer is 27.
Answer 2:
There are three series:
First: 1,3,7,15...(Addition of powers of 2)
Second: 2,4,8,16....(Powers of 2)
Third: Sum of the above two series
Hence the answer is 313263.

The second answer:

The next number in the sequence will be 313263. here is the reason why.

1+2=3 (first number)
3+4=7 (second)
7+8=15 (third)
15+16=31 (fourth)
31+32=63 (fifth)

Basically, the first numbers are in numerical order, then added together. The answer is the last number(s), and then the sequence begins again. The sum from the previous number is the first digit of the next number, and it begins again!

1.
Try e=1, then a=6, b=3, c=2, d= ??? (can't do it, because you can't take 1/4 of 6 and have it be a whole number).

Try e=2, then a=12, b=6, c=4, d=3. a,b,c,d,e are all whole numbers, so the smallest possible sum is 2+3+4+6+12=27

1)
a=2b => b=a/2
a=3c => c=a/3
a=4d => d=a/4
a=6e => e=a/6

Then:
a+b+c+d+e= a+a/2+a/3+a/4+a/6

then:
a+b+c+d+e= a(1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/6)

a+b+c+d+e= a(9/4)

if a,b,c,d and e are the ages of people, then the lowest value for a is 1.
Therefore, if a+b+c+d= a(9/4), then the smallest possible value of a+b+c+d+e=9/4.

123, 347, 7815, 151631, -------------- = 313263

You take the last digit of the previous number, add one for the second part of the number, and add those first 2 numbers together to get the third part of the number.
