Please ignore all these peopl who have posted before me. they obviously do not know what they are talking about.
I am gay, so coming from a gay guy who has been through this, it makes sense.
Okay, please, whatever you do, do not put him on the spot and ask him directly if he is gay. it will put him in an akward position that he will feel comfortable in.
Give him the time that he needs. It is the hardest thing in teh world accepting who you are as a person, especially if it goes against what a lot of people in society disagree with. He needs the time to figure out who he is as a person first before he tells other people.
Let him come to you. If he feels comfortable with his sexuality, he will tell you when he is ready. if you do confront him, you are forcing him into answering a question he does not feel comfortable with.
If you are a true friend, let him decide and come to you. do not force him to answer your question, it could mean he might not trust you.

Only idiots put stock in idle speculation. Any smart person knows that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Don't rely on judgements and stereotypes, or sweeping generalizations. Those little either/or tests are funny, but don't prove anything. Any smart person will tell you that there are always exceptions to every rule.
This best thing, if you must know - but ask yourself, is his sexuality really any of your business? - is to respectfully and non-confrontationally simply ask. But remember, you will only get an honest answer if he feels he can trust you, and if he doesn't feel threatened. And be prepared to get an answer that you may not like....

the truth is that threes no way to find out if he is gay or if he's not, there are alto of gay men that are very masculine, if he is gay he will tell you when the time is right.

Have a female strip completely naked in front of him. If he immediately wants to slip the salami to her he is not gay. If instead he says he has to get home to watch Ophra, listen to the orginal cast CD of "Oklahoma!" or redecorate his apartment he may possibly be gay!
