Verbal abuse is anything that repeatedly hurts your feelings, makes you feel inferior, or breaks down your self-esteem. THe person you are with should know how they should approach sticky conversations, and if they don't do it in a way in which you feel comfortable and doesn't care about your feelings..yeah, it's verbal abuse. One should know how to joke around with their s/o, but one should also know not to hurt s/o's feelings. What you listed there is verbal abuse.

You seem to have a pretty good definition which is disturbing. If you are in an abusive relationship, for your own benefit - get out. You don't need to put yourself through that. If he is verbally abusive he probably doesn't love you and is just using you. There is the other possibility that he might be a victim of verbal abuse and is himself hurting and is letting that hurt and anger out by taking it out on you.

You have answered your own question. ALL of what you listed is verbal abuse. And it is the most damaging abuse there is, besides killing someone from beating them to death. Verbal abuse is the hardest to get over/deal with as the words play over and over in your head, which can get you to believe what you are being told. I went thru verbal/mental/emotional abuse my whole life, until a year ago when I walked away from it. I have never been happier in my life not being around it!

This is all verbal abuse and also if they threaten you as well... If they are always cutting you down and making you feel low and you have no self esteem left this is abuse and not right.... Seek counseling and help and you may even want to leave for a while!
